The Marriage Tree

Marriage tree Ribbons - No one is sure how, but at some point in Anwick's history marriages started happening under the old tall oak tree in Olrena Park.

The tree first started, legend says, as a wish tree. Townfolk would write their wishes on ribbons and tie them to the trees branches. eventually it because a common practice for the names of love interests to be written on the tree. And now, now it's the names of newly married couples that adore the tree branches, for luck and longevity.

If the couple feels daring, one may climb the tree to the very top and remove the highest branch. It's said if the branch is woven into a wreath that hangs on a wall in the newly wedded couple's bedroom, love would always blossom. Usually in the way of twins!

The Island

It's said on moon lit nights lights and forms can be seen dancing amongst the trees to an eerie song that hangs gently on the wind on one of the islands on Lake Rowan. . If you listen too long you go mad…or so the legend says. Although which island it it seems to change, depending on who you talk to.

Shercroft Summit

If you walk about 5 hours in a northwesterly direction of Anwick you will be at the base of Shercroft Summit. This large, several mile wide cliff face reaches thousands of feet upwards. Getting to the top is a dangerous task, as there are no safe trails that reach the top. Only intrepid climbers have been to the top and of those less than 1% make it back to the bottom, either falling to their death or getting eaten by Aradace. For it is on Shercroft Summit is where the great dragon lives.

Education

In Anwick there are three schooling options. The temple runs a small school where reading, writing, basic math and history are taught up until the age of 12, wherein the student goes into an apprenticeship or other training. For further education they can go to Shizi Hall or the capital where a variety of trade schools are.

Shizi Hall - A child who has leaning toward healing or apothecary as a trade can be enrolled in Shizi Hall as young as 8. Though they have been know to take students as early as 6 if they have a sponsor at Shizi Hall. They are taught the same things as students in the temple school in addition to healing and medicines. At 12 the students are paired up with a journey or master to continue their education until they are able to pass their journeyman test, signaling their graduation from Shizi Hall. This usually doesn't happen until they have been an apprentice for at least five years.

Home schooling is also an viable option.
